Industrial Networking Workshop

June 16 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm EDT

The Industrial Networking Workshop will provide participants with valuable insight into the world of unmanaged vs managed switches including configuring them yourself!

This workshop is ideal for control engineers, network engineers, IT professionals, E&I Techs, I&C Techs, Process Engineers.

One of the main issues with unmanaged switches (UM) are that they pose Security Risk. Open ports on the UM allow visitors, contractors, and even plant floor employees can easily plug into one of these switches when physically accessible. This can lead to an entry point and injecting or spreading of viruses within your network. A managed switch allows for disabling of unused ports to prevent unauthorized access.

Topics Covered:

  • What makes up an industrial ethernet system
  • OSI Model Review (Layer 1 and 2)
  • Industrial network component review
  • VLAN configuration (Why are they important)
  • Static & DHCP addressing
  • IGMP Snooping
  • Rapid Spanning Tree
  • Hands on with a managed switch and non-managed switch

At the conclusion of this course you will have the knowledge to build and configure your network to be reliable, robust, and secure.

Come prepared to engage, learn and participate. Our team of experts is ready to help you grow your skills in the ever-important world of industrial networking.
