Siemens G120 Integration To ControlLogix

The purpose of this guide is to help technicians and engineers integrate SIEMENS Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) into a new or existing EtherNet/IP network, specifically Rockwell Automation (RA) Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). EtherNet/IP (EIP) is being used in a wide range of industries and is one of the fastest growing industrial protocols in the United States. EtherNet/IP is an open source implementation, thus allowing for the continuous development and support from industry leaders (such as SIEMENS), ensuring that this industrial application layer protocol support sustainability.

Instructions and examples will be based on SIEMENS Telegram, SIEMENS add-on instructions, RSLINX, and a Compact/ ControlLogixTM PLC platform, configured with v30 of the Studio 5000 software environment. This guide will navigate, configure and explore the functionality of SIEMENS Telegram.

The SIEMENS Telegram was developed to organize parameters and functions into a standardized format that all Siemens drives can use to pass blocks of data directly to the PLC. These blocks are organized into 16-bit process words (PZD) and information packages into groups: control words, status words, and setpoints.

A majority of the available telegrams utilizes a common control word, status word, speed setpoint, and speed feedback, thus simplifying integration and reducing commissioning time.
